Diechterhorn
With very nice weather we started at 5:30 from the pleasant Gelmerhuette. Snow started already at an altitude of 2500m behind the moraine. Already during ascent the snow was soft and we had to make a trail all the way to the rocks of the summit. The short snowface showed poor snowconditions. After the sun warmed the snowslope some small snowslides occurred. At the same time a party of four Swiss climbers from Giswil ascended and a solo tourskier summited the north summit. During the way down at 10:30 the snow got really soft and made descending tiring (for the ones without skies).
Best way to the top is by traversing the eastslope and climbing the north top by the short north ridge. No crevasses seen. Good views all around with Matterhorn, Finsteraarhorn up to Dammastock and Titlis

Snowsituation will improve rapidly. Crevasses are still covered and harmless. Very pleasant tour for debutants. Timeschedule 6 hours rondtrip from Gelmer.
Very nice warden, good atmosphere at hut and hot showers.....!!!
